A few weeks ago, I went to Jacob Collier’s concert in Orlando. I don’t remember exactly how I came up with the idea, but a few days before I thought it would be neat to make some sort of light-up earrings for the concert. A quick amazon order and a day later, I put together my version 0 LED earrings.
Version 0 was as simple as it got. It consisted of a tiny addressable LED bar with an ESP8266-01 module hot glued on the back with a lipo hot glued on the back of that. No power regulation, nothing. I had to hope that the ESP8266 would survive being overvolted for a few hours, which it did! I had to turn them off during the concert because they were so bright, but both before and after the concert, I got multiple comments from people asking where I bought them.
